CASE STUDY Case Number SC57303
Issue: Hydraulic Fluid Bubbling
Description of problem:
Customer calls and states that his Hydraulic fluid is bubbling and explains that it started do thing 5 months ago but has progressively gotten worse.
Things to check: • Any incidents that happened shortly before problem first began? o A cap the size of the inlet tube to the pump fell in there and blocked all flow to the pump, to the point where the wraps where slowing down, ever since then the fluid has been bubbling.
• Check condition of hydraulic fluid. o Customer had just changed hydraulic fluid shortly after the problem first began suspecting that it was the issue.
• Check for any leaks in the lines of the hydraulic tank, by running hand thru the tank while it is running and feel for fluid jetting. o Customer felt no fluid jetting of anything, suspect good
• Recommend draining hydraulic tank and check all fittings with a wrench to confirm they are tight and had not wiggled loose. o Customer confirmed that all fittings where tight
Based on the fact that everything pertaining to the hydraulic tank and fittings seem to be in good working order, and that they had an incident before the bubbling started of the inlet tube being block, which would of caused the pump to run dry, suspect that the pump has bad internal seals.
Conclusion: Customer replaced hydraulic pump and bubbling stopped immediately after.
