Issue: Gate Eye Failure
ALSO CHECK OUT Banner Eye Article
Description of problem:
Wash is staying on, all the soaps are staying on along with the hydraulics, rinses, and blowers, just about every single function is running nonstop.
Things to check: • Any incidents that happened before the problem first began? o No incidents that the customer can recall • Confirm that the gate eyes are adjusted properly. o The gate eyes appear to be adjusted properly. • Check if the gate sensor (input 12) on the monitor page is illuminated. o The gate sensor (input 12), the truck bed sensor (input 13), and tire sensor (input 21) all had a green light next to them. • Check to see what the frequencies are set to on the photo eyes. Should be ABA or BAB when reading from top to bottom, check that both drivers side and passenger side match each other. o Confirmed that the drivers side was set to ABA and when he checked the passenger side none of the lights where illuminated.
With the passenger side not showing any lights, there is most likely an issue with the power going into it. Customer checked the wire that feeds the passenger side gate sensors and found it was corroded, cleaned up wire and installed new wire nut and everything is working properly.
The passenger side sensor is the emitter which means it sends out a beam of light to the receiver (drivers side sensor) when the receiver doesn’t see the light it sends a 24vdc signal to the controller, indicating that the eye is blocked and to begin the wash process. The receiver wasn’t getting the light signal because the emitter didn’t have power.
