Rocker Brush Adjustments: Angle, Pressure, Lubrication The rocker brush, when properly set up, should dance off the finger about 6′′ from the tips. The cloth should be foamed directly into the brush for lubricity.If the ideal operation is not achieved please review the following adjustment checklist. Angle of the Brush –The brush should be set up at an angle of about 10 degrees with the top away from the car. The cloth will be pointing upward from the car, touching the side of the brush. This keeps the top disc away from the car and improves cleaning on lower panels of trucks. Adjustment of Pressure on the Rocker Shock –Adjust the shock to its most closed adjustment, meaning, the point of connection of the shock at its closest point, reducing pressure between the brush and threaded rod as desired. Wedge Installed –There is a wedge add-on part to the rubber bumper the holds the brush at a 45 degree angle pointing down the tunnel. This wedge should be installed to reduce the risk of the brush being run over by large trucks and reducing the pressure of the brush. The wedge (P-M2072), if not already set up this way, is easily installed by removing the rubber bumper and installing the wedge in its location. Then attach the rubber bumper to the wedge. No welding is necessary for this procedure. Offset Equipment from Center –Equipment should be installed 4′′ off center line to the drivers side. If the equipment is installed center to center it will create excess pressure on DS wraps, rockers, and contours. This can be compensated for with small alterations. If the pressure of the brush is extreme, it is possible a rocker shock adjustment kit can be added (PM2075). By installing this you will be able to change the angle at which the shock is pivoted during brush movement allowing the pressure applied to the surface of the vehicle to be lessened. In order to perform this procedure you must cut of the shock mount, leaving the arm it is welded to. Mount as far as possible from the brush. Slide the updated part over the arm and use the set screw to move the shock mount closer to the mount / leg of the arch. Lubricity is Key –Verify that the proper chemical application is being applied to the rocker brush –a low PH body soap, or solvent based product. The foaming manifold used for foaming the wraps also to be used for foaming the rocker brushes. On the bottom of the manifold is a 1/2′′ port that should contain a 90 degree fitting that applies foam directly to the rocker brush. Be sure there is a foam generator on all four legs of the combo unit.
